Often known for its sadistic, sardonic antagonists, horrifying zombie mayhem and pitiless character deaths, TWD is perhaps best described as an uncompromising, character-driven narrative that valued honest examination of its beleaguered protagonists. The series follows the adventures of Rick Grimes and his stalwart band of survivors amidst the rapture of a zombie apocalypse. TWD cut a brutal path through the comics’ world when it debuted in 2003, reigniting the horror comics genre and spawning three television series and numerous videogames along the way. ![]()
